HDPE Pipe: Prices and Sizes

HDPE Pipe: Prices and Sizes

HDPE pipe, also commonly called PE-100 pipe, is a product designed to carry pressurized clean water, and it meets food-grade standards. Available in a wide range of HDPE pipe sizes, most well-known brands on the Indonesian market already manufacture this product in accordance with the SNI (Indonesian National Standard).

HDPE pipe is a newer technology compared with conventional products. It is made from a thermoplastic material with many advantages, and it can be joined using more than one method, so the jointing technique can be adapted to the needs of each installation.

HDPE pipe is widely known as “black plastic pipe”. It performs well and is recommended for clean water distribution. Its advantages include high durability, being both strong and flexible, and a low tendency to crack, which makes this type of pipe hard to damage, so it can last up to 50 years while meeting food-grade standards.

The pipe is also known on the market as PE (polyethylene) pipe, because it is made from high density polyethylene. This high density polyethylene base material is why it is also called PE-100 pipe.

Thermoplastic is well known for its exceptional properties: it is strong and flexible, with a very low tendency to crack. Besides lasting for decades, the raw material used for this type of pipe is safe and will not contaminate the water it carries.

HDPE Pipe Prices and Sizes

The name HDPE comes from the raw material used to make the pipe, high density polyethylene. This material is one of the thermoplastic variants, which are classified according to their recycling category. Below is a reference price list for pipe products by brand:

Types of HDPE Pipe

For distribution purposes, HDPE pipe is available in several types based on pressure rating, usually coded as PN or Pressure Nominal. PN is the level of pressure a piping product can withstand.

PE-100 HDPE pipe with different PN pressure ratings
PE-100 Pipe

This product is manufactured to the Indonesian National Standard (SNI), and PE-100 pipe is available in several PN ratings, as follows:

PN-6.3 Pipe

Pipe with this code has the lowest pressure rating. It is available in sizes from 3 inches to 24 inches. This type is not available in rolls because its wall thickness is too thin.

PE-100 PN-8 Pipe

This type has a fairly high pressure rating. It is available in sizes from 2-1/2 inches to 24 inches. It is one of the best options for low-pressure or non-pressurized clean water lines.

PE-100 PN-10 Pipe

This is the product most often used for pressurized clean water lines. It can be used at pressures of up to 10 bar or 10 kg/cm², and it is well suited to everything from branch lines to main lines. Sizes on the market range from 1-1/2 inches to 24 inches in diameter.

PE-100 PN-12.5 Pipe

This type is suitable for clean water lines with moderately high pressure. The pipe is rated at 12.5 bar or 12.5 kg/cm². It is well suited to clean water distribution for households, public facilities and the mining industry. It is available on the market in both rolls and straight lengths.
