Geogrid Definition and Uses
By definition, a geogrid is a construction material used as reinforcement. Its properties differ somewhat from geotextile materials, even though both serve as reinforcement.

We often see geotextiles used in construction, and geogrids are in fact just as commonly used. Geogrids are made by sheet extrusion, stitching, heating and stretching.
Geogrids also have high tensile strength that can exceed international standards for reinforcement materials. They can also improve the performance of the subbase and subgrade by reinforcing embankment fill. The material is increasingly popular because it is widely used in geotechnically complex earthworks projects.

This product is a type of geosynthetic with apertures that allow interlocking with the aggregate fill, forming a reinforcing layer for heavily loaded embankments commonly used for roads, railways, retaining walls and more.
