HDPE Geomembrane Installation Accessories
HDPE Geomembrane
In a project design, there are sometimes complex areas that cannot be handled with conventional methods. One example is a containment project using HDPE geomembrane. When the area is complex and an anchor trench cannot be built, one solution is to use additional geomembrane installation accessories, namely polylock.
Polylock
Polylock is a product made from high density polyethylene (HDPE) polymer. It is a complementary product, or accessory, used in HDPE geomembrane installation. Polylock is embedded in a concrete wall, so it is firmly anchored in the wall once the concrete has dried and hardened.
Geomembrane Installation
Because polylock is made of HDPE, it bonds well with other HDPE materials. It must therefore be used with HDPE geomembrane, and the joint must be made with a geomembrane extrusion welding machine using HDPE welding rod.
Welding rod
As mentioned, when polylock is used with geomembrane it must be joined with HDPE welding rod. Welding rod is made from various materials, such as Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene (ABS), High Density Polyethylene (HDPE), Low Density Polyethylene (LDPE), Polypropylene (PP) and Polyvinyl Chloride (PVC). With so many materials available, how do you choose the right welding rod?
The welding rod generally has to match the type of plastic being welded. If PVC geomembrane is used, the sheets must be joined with PVC welding rod. With HDPE polylock, HDPE geomembrane must be used and the welding must be done with welding rod of the same material, HDPE. This prevents the risk of mixing different plastics while hot, incomplete bonding and damage caused by different melting points.
PT. Petra Nusa Elshada supplies polylock and welding rod made from HDPE. Polylock is available in widths of 10 cm and 15 cm with a length of 3 meters. Welding rod is available in several colors: black, white and green. PT. Petra Nusa Elshada polylock is a local product with TKDN (domestic content) certification. PT. Petra Nusa Elshada welding rod comes in two types: local (TKDN) and imported (non-TKDN).
